FUEL CELL COMPONENTS

Protocol on Fuel Cell Component Testing: Primer for Generating Test Plans Now Available.

Mission Statement:

The Transportation Working Group will promote the use of fuel cell technologies in transportation by 

  • highlighting the benefits of the new technologies,
  • stimulating the acceptance of fuel cell vehicles and associated infrastructure, and
  • encouraging the removal of barriers to commercialization.

Hydrogen Infrastructure
The USFCC Transportation Working Group has hosted a series of forums entitled "Hydrogen Infrastructure Forum Between National & Local Governments and Industry: "Addressing Potential Near Term Demand Gaps"

 
Goals Supporting Activities
Educate 
  • the general public, 
  • potential customers, and 
  • government employees and officials
on the benefits of fuel cells for transportation.
  • Brochures and other informative material
  • Educational package for school children
  • Conferences and trade show
Inform

USFCC membership of government activities and opportunities.

  • Updates during monthly conference calls: 
    • Local, regional, and state initiatives such as CaFCP, Ohio, Michigan, and Connecticut.
    • Federal DOE and DOT programs and demonstrations
  • Legislative issues
Encourage

the development of codes and standards for transportation

  • SAE Recommended Practices and ISO / IEC standards for fuel cell vehicles and propulsion systems
  • ICC Ad Hoc Hydrogen Committee and NFPA for hydrogen infrastructure
  • European Integrated Hydrogen Project (EIHP) and Global Technical Regulations (GTRs)

 

The Transportation Working Group is currently assisting in the activities to establish the following SAE Fuel Cell J-Documents: 

  • Safety 
  • Performance 
  • Emissions 
  • Recyclability 
  • Interface
    • Hydrogen Specification 
  • Terminology
