Intermec Fuel Cell RFID ReaderTM Technology

Description:

MTI Micro Fuel cells teamed up with Intermec Technologies Corp. to develop micro fuel cell systems for Intermec rugged handheld mobile computers and peripherals. As part of the joint development and supply agreement executed in December, 2004, MTI Micro and Intermec will integrate MTI Micro's proprietary direct methanol micro fuel cell power system into future Intermec mobile computing equipment. To start, this IP3-FC/750 RFID reader will be launched in late 2004. It is the first handheld commercial product to utilize a fuel cell. The reader will run for 30 hours, rather than eight, before it needs a new cartridge.

MTI Micro Fuel Cells MobionTM Technology

Description:

MTI Micro Fuel Cells demonstrated their MOBIONTM Technology June, 2004 by integrating it in the world's first handheld entertainment system and PDA/Smartphone powered by a fuel cell. MTI's b reakthrough MOBIONTM cord-free rechargeable power pack can provide continuous access to power anytime, anywhere for 2 to 10 times longer than an equivalent size battery pack. MTI Micro will ultimately address three primary markets, industrial, military and consumer electronics, through a phased entry approach. The Company plans its first shipment of MobionTM power packs to the industrial market for use in retail, distribution and warehousing applications (such as RFID tag readers) where the shorter run-time and re-charge maintenance of traditional batteries reduce worker productivity.
